2 Today s Gospel John 12:12-23 The next day a great crowd who had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying, Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel! and Jesus found a young ass and sat upon it; as it is written, Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on an ass's colt! His disciples did not understand this at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that this had been written of him and had been done to him. The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead bore witness. The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this sign. The Pharisees then said to one another, You see that you can do nothing; look, the world has gone after him. Now among those who went up to worship at the feast were some Greeks. So these came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and said to him, Sir, we wish to see Jesus. Philip went and told Andrew; Andrew went with Philip and they told Jesus. And Jesus answered them, The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Catholicos of All Armenians Confirms Election of Fr. Daniel Findikyan as New Primate On Tuesday, May 8, 2018, His Holiness Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, confirmed the election of the Very Revered Fr. Daniel Findikyan as the new Primate of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of America. For this occasion, Fr. Aren Jebejian and Fr. Armash Bagdasarian sent a congratulatory letter to the newly elected Primate to send him their best wishes. 12 Komitas Choir News The Komitas Choir would like to sponsor organ lessons for pianists who are interested in learning to play the organ. The trained organists will learn the Armenian Divine Liturgy music as an understudy organist in order to accompany the Komitas Choir occasionally on Sundays. For more information, please contact Dn. If you have an upcoming surgery, please consider requesting your name to be included in the Prayers for the Sick and Hospitalized list. Those who are homebound and would like to receive Holy Communion at home should phone the Church Office. Home Blessing If you would like the Pastor to visit your home and offer a home blessing, please contact the Church Office. Baptism Parents may prepare for the baptism of their child before he or she is born. For more information, phone the Church Secretary. We encourage parents to baptize their children between 40 days and 3 months. Marriage Phone the Church Secretary at least nine months in advance of your proposed wedding date. Parish Membership If you are interested in becoming a member of the St. John parish, please speak to a Parish Council member on Sunday, or phone the Church Office. Sunday Bulletin Announcements for the Sunday Bulletin are due in the Church Office by 5:00 pm on Wednesday preceding the date of service. Requiem Requests may be submitted to the Church Office by mail, phone, fax , or to Tamara@sjachurch.org no later than 5:00 pm Wednesday preceding the Sunday. Request forms are available in the Church Lobby. Requiem may be offered every Sunday of the year except for the five Tabernacle Feast Days.
